Online Sharing Tools That I Use
I wanted to create this document to outline the top Internet sharing tools that I think everyone could use. You will be delighted to know that some of the best tools are FREE !
I will be reviewing this list periodically because there are always new tools being developed to make your sharing more efficient and widespread – so, check back with me from time to time.
Thank you in advance if you order any of these paid tools from the links below. The funds received will be applied to supporting this website.
Every Internet business starts with a great website – and that needs to be hosted on a server somewhere in a fast, reliable, secure and economical fashion. My experience with Hostgator has been fantastic. I use a Reseller Account that allows me to set up unlimited websites – but you can start with just one website using the Baby Account for just a few dollars a month. It comes with the cPanel web hosting account management tool.
Note – if you are considering or have already subscribed to the iPAS2 system below, your website hosting and your own personal blog are taken care of without any requirement for technical expertise on your part.
2. Domain Names / Namecheap
Website domains can and should be purchased and registered separately, for diversity, from the website hosting provider. In this case, I highly recommend Namecheap for managing your domain names. It’s a full featured service, easy to use with lots of help, and it has been consistently reliable for me for many years – it’s hard to beat the cost.
It’s also a good idea to use Namecheap’s ‘Whoisguard’ service in order to keep domain ownership information private.
3. Website Access / CloudFlare (FREE)
CloudFlare protects and accelerates any website online. Once your website is a part of the CloudFlare community, its web traffic is routed through an intelligent global network. The delivery of your web pages is automatically optimized so your visitors get the fastest page load times and best performance. CloudFlare also blocks threats and limits abusive bots and crawlers from wasting your bandwidth and server resources. The result: CloudFlare-powered websites see a significant improvement in performance and a decrease in spam and other attacks.
CloudFlare has a comprehensive free plan. If you want enhanced security, real time statistics and other more advanced capabilities, there are paid plans that offer those features.
4. Password Manager / RoboForm
In my many years of online marketing, I have accumulated hundreds of user names and passwords for the accounts that I have set up. We all have a tendency to use easy and familiar passwords – if not the same ones over and over. That leaves us much more vulnerable to being hacked. RoboForm allows the use of very strong credentials without having to remember them – just a single master password is required. Its really easy to log into any account since an association is maintained with the account login form’s URL, making ‘signing in’ just a one-click action – it’s so convenient and a real time saver !
5. Website Themes (WordPress) / StudioPress Genesis Framework and Child Themes
There are literally millions of website possibilities available for your particular need. How the heck do you navigate through all of them?
Well, start with a very credible source – someone who has been in the business and who will be there years down the road. Then, use a website ‘platform’ that is safe and reliable and is optimized for your purposes – WordPress is the biggest and best in my opinion. I have been through the gamut of my own customized static website designs and numerous WordPress website themes from high tech to basic cookie-cutter designs, and some specifically made for Internet marketers.
My choice, among these, and the other million or so options – like trying to tell you how to dress – is StudioPress based on the Genesis core framework. You match this with your choice of ‘child theme’ to give it the look and functionality that appeals to you. Lots of things are taken care of that you won’t find in other themes – like responsive design that handles all the mobile formats, ‘search’engine’ optimized, and unlimited updates and support.
I currently use the Pinsomo ‘Pinterest-like’ child theme designed by SomoThemes to work with the Genesis framework – have a look see at timsnetwork.com.
6. Website Backup (WordPress) / WPTwin
When you have your own website or blog, it’s a key asset to your online business. You don’t want to lose it with a bad update or modification glitch, or even by getting it hacked!
WPTwin lets you back up your entire WordPress website in less than a minute. It’s dead simple to run. I have used it for several years to always back up my websites before I upgrade the WordPress core or any of its themes and plugins. I have also used WPTwin to clone my websites and to move them from one website hosting account to another. It’s really an indispensable tool and gives me the security I need to protect my business.
7. Link Cloaking/Redirecting / Easy Redirect Script
The worst thing that you can do when promoting affiliate products is to use a raw url or link. Your business will instantly lose significant income. This happens for a number of reasons:
Sales could be directed to the product owner from people who remove the affiliate ID from your link.
People generally don’t trust and buy from long affiliate-looking links like in the example above.
You could lose out to your unscrupulous competition who could reverse engineer your traffic sources from your affiliate ID.
Hackers could swap your affiliate ID for their own and swipe your sales.
Many link shorteners are banned and emails containing them will not be delivered by servers to your list at all.
Many social networks such as Facebook and Pinterest have also banned link shorteners, preventing your links and images from being posted and adversely affecting your promotional traffic.
Using free link shorteners leaves you vulnerable to the longevity of the company. If it closes, your links are history and so is your traffic and income.
I have been using Easy Redirect Script for over a year now and I really love it.
8. Promotional Funnels / ClickFunnels
Have you ever had to design your own optin page, landing page, promotional page or website page?
If you don’t know what they are, then don’t worry. Russell Brunson has taken care of all of those headaches with his ‘ClickFunnels’ software. It’s amazingly easy to use – and there are videos and online help to get you trained up and to resolve any issues that you may have when delving into this super product.
